If you don’t know when you are hungry or full, how will you know when to eat or stop eating?
With many of my clients, when they first come to see me, they have completely lost touch with their hunger. Instead of eating when they are hungry and stopping when they are full, their eating patterns are determined by a variety of different factors, for instance:
- Eating when the clock says it’s time to eat
- Eating a set meal each day, because that’s what they have always done
- Eating because it’s there
One of the most powerful things that will transform your relationship with food is to re-connect with your hunger. Our bodies naturally signal to us when we need to eat and also when we should stop. The problem arises in our modern environment, where we are surrounded by food, and the natural signals are drowned out.
