Remember, we are talking about the criteria you should check against before starting any weight loss programme.
Last time we talked about ensuring the changes are not too drastic.
Today:
#2 Long-Term Focus
Most “diets” are focussed on the short term. They are all about how much weight you can lose and how soon.
But what is much more important is whether you can keep the weight off. There is no sense in losing weight and then gaining it back straight away.
With every weight loss programme, before you do it, you should always check that there is a long-term plan.
For example:
If your weight loss method relies heavily on eating one particular food, then you have to ask yourself, am I willing to keep eating this for the rest of my life? If not, then this is not a long-term weight loss plan.
A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself “Am I honestly still going to be doing this in 2 years time?” If the answer is no, then try something different.
The ideal weight loss programme is one that is focussed on long-term weight loss. Because you don’t want to have to keep going on diets for the rest of your life.
