In a PR dream for the worldwide coffee chain, a woman has claimed to have lost 6 stone (85 pounds) by only eating at Starbucks.

Christine Hall, 66, claims to have lost 85 pounds by eating all of her meals at her local Starbucks, MSNBC reported. Starbucks’ prepackaged foods — located right underneath those sugary cakes and buttery croissants — make up her breakfast, lunch and dinner, and offer “really healthy choices,” Hall explained to a reporter.

Will this lead to a “Starbucks Diet”?

Is this the cure for obesity?

The fact is, if you restrict yourself to a particular food or even a particular menu of foods, you will lose weight. There is no doubt about it.

This is the principle behind:
– The Maple Syrup Diet
– The Green Tea Diet
– Any prepackaged meal diet
– The guy that lost all that weight eating only Subway sandwiches

All of these diets restrict the foods that you can have. And through this reduced choice, you end up losing weight.

But the problem with this kind of “diet” is, that while a minority of people might tolerate the restriction, most people couldn’t bear to only eat at Starbucks for the rest of their life.

Remember, if you’re not willing to do something for the rest of your life, then all you have is a short-term diet. And as soon as you stop, you will gain weight back.

This woman sounds like (at the moment) she doesn’t mind not eating out, or if she goes on holiday seeking out the nearest Starbucks. I’m not sure if she has family, but that kind of dietary restriction is one that might strain even the closest of familial bonds.
