You really want to lose weight. You’ve been trying for years and you’ve never made enough progress.
So, let me ask you: What’s stopping you?
Answering the question of what’s preventing you from achieving success is crucial.
Instead of searching for the next quick fix to cure your weight problem, you are much better off investing some time and focus on answering this question.
So it’s time to answer the question: Why haven’t you lost weight yet?
Let’s really simplify this down, to two possible responses:
1. You try all the wrong ways to lose weight.
This probably applies to most people who are failing to lose weight.
If your weight loss method is focused on short-term, unpleasant, depriving changes that you realistically would never stick with for more than a few weeks, then you’re doing it all wrong.
And let’s face it, most diets are all about the short-term, even when they say they’re not.
Would you want to weigh food, calculate your daily calories or get foil packed meals delivered to your home FOREVER?
So what’s the right way?
The right way is to focus on the long-term.
For instance, instead of focusing on trying to lose weight over the next few weeks (which is what most diet failures do), focus on getting to and staying at your ideal, healthy weight, so that by next year, you don’t have to worry about picking another diet.
Most people can’t contemplate thinking in terms of losing weight over months not weeks, and that’s why they fail.
2. You do some of the right things, but you never do them for long enough.
If you’ve applied a behavioural approach to your life, but not been able to achieve any lasting success, then there’s one reason:
You’re not sticking with it long enough.
Remember these two absolutely vital points:
1. It will always take you longer than you expect to lose and control your weight.
2. The only way you can fail to lose weight is if you give up.
You need to shift your expectations:
Expect it to take longer than you thought.
Expect LOTS of setbacks
Expect to second-guess yourself a lot.
And JUST KEEP GOING.
