That Can’t Be True!

From the situation you’re in now, what I’ve described might seem like an impossibility. But that’s because the approaches you’ve used before have been too focused on dieting, rather than changing your relationship with food.

Dieting Doesn’t Work

Here’s the thing about stopping over-eating:

Dieting doesn’t work. In fact, dieting makes things worse.

The dieting approach to over-eating relies on stopping eating “bad” foods

But by making certain foods forbidden, you actually end up INCREASING your cravings for them.

These increased cravings make you more likely to over-eat and binge.

The familiar thought patterns are:

  • “I shouldn’t eat these bad foods”

  • “But I can’t resist them”

  • “Oh no I’ve had some”

  • “Oh well, I’ve messed it up now, I might as well just binge, and then start again tomorrow”

  • “I have no self-control”

Some of these thoughts may be unconscious so you may not even realise you’re having them.

But they all lead to the same outcome: more over-eating and bingeing.

The cycle continues until you can break it.

When I first met with Dr K, I couldn’t quite imagine how his method was going to work with me. After all he wasn’t telling me to cut out any food!!

It’s not a diet and that makes me very happy (but still regularly confused!) but what makes me happiest of all is that I don’t have that feeling of dread anymore if I’ve gone a bit overboard.

What Does the Programme Involve?

The programme involves weekly one-to-one sessions with me. For 8 weeks.

These sessions can happen via Zoom.

What Happens in the Weekly Sessions?

Here is some of what is covered in the sessions (of course the sessions will be personalised to you, so not all of this will be relevant):

Module: “Change Your Eating”

  • Break the diet-based thinking of “good” and “bad” foods

  • Understand that paradoxically, restriction is what leads to over-eating. And why genuine eating freedom is the key to ending over-eating.


Module: “Break the Spell”

  • Learn how to undo the grip of foods you previously thought were irresistible.

  • Understand the thoughts and triggers that drive bingeing.

  • Stop binges before they even begin.

Module: “Now I Can Enjoy Food”

  • How to go out for dinner and enjoy the meal without over-eating.

  • Holiday without over-eating and still have a great time.

  • How to handle other common scenarios like dinner at a friend’s house, entertaining or drinks with friends. If you don’t learn how to handle these situations they will continue to undermine your progress, no matter which weight loss method you use.

Module: End Emotional Eating

  • A 3-step approach that I’ve used with hundreds of clients.

  • Identifying triggers and how to avoid / deal with them.

  • Replacing emotional eating with empowering alternative behaviour

Module: Take Control of Snacking

  • How to snack without it leading to a binge.

  • Controlling the environment to minimise snacking.

  • Timing meals to reduce snacking.


Also:

  • What to do if you do have a binge (the opposite of what most people do).

  • A new way of thinking about food that will change it from being the “enemy” to a normal enjoyable part of your everyday experience.

  • Figuring out what your personal triggers are to over-eating and how to handle each of them.

  • How to make lasting changes to your eating habits.
